This stitch is also called the “Afghan stitch” and is the most common Tunisian Crochet stitch.  This stitch is formed by inserting the hook under the front vertical bar into the direction that you work.  You will note the typical chain stitches that are formed on the return pass between the vertical lines that are formed while the loops are picked up during the forward pass.

The foundation row of the Tunisian Simple Stitch is the base of most stitches.  Also the last stitch on the forward pass is worked the same for most stitches and is referred to as being worked Tss-wise.

The Tunisian Simple stitch has a tendency to curl but has excellent drape, especially when you use larger hooks.
